The public is invited to an open house Thursday, November 6 on a safety improvement project at the 66th and Fremont intersection. The open house is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the media center at Pershing Elementary, 6402 Judson St.
The 66th and Fremont intersection has been identified by the City as a high-accident location. The project includes the construction of a mini-roundabout and concrete islands at each approach that will allow for large trucks and emergency vehicles to pass through the intersection more easily. The project also includes new sidewalks, driveway approaches and a retaining wall as well as drainage improvements.
The project is currently in the preliminary design phase. At the open house, residents can view design information and talk to the project team. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2016.
