Tree Recycling Collection Ends Sunday

The City of Lincoln's annual tree recycling program will end Sunday, January 11. The trees will then be ground into wood chips, and the wood chip mulch will be available at no charge to Lincoln residents beginning Monday, January 19 at Hofeling Enterprises, 2200 South Folsom Court, during normal business hours. The mulch will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Trees can be dropped off at the following sites:

The City Recycling Office reminds residents recycling their trees to remove plastic bags used for transport and put them in trash cans at the recycling sites. All nails, wires and tree stands must be removed.

The City of Lincoln began offering the tree recycling program in 1987 to keep large quantities of trees from going to the landfill. Lincoln's tree recycling program is the oldest of its kind in Nebraska. In the last 27 years, the City has recycled an estimated 217,000 trees.
