Lincoln residents are invited to join the Public Garden Section of the Parks and Recreation Department for the annual spring cleanup of the Hamann Rose Garden and the Strolling Garden, 27th and "B" streets. The event begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11. Staff will demonstrate proper spring rose pruning and provide information on growing rose bushes as they lead the cleanup of the Hybrid Teas, Floribundas, Grandifloras, Shrub Roses and Miniature Roses.
Participants are asked to bring thorn-proof rose gloves and pruning shears or lopping shears. A tool-sharpening station will be available, and staff will give tips on how to properly sharpen tools. Members of the Lincoln Rose Society and Lincoln Garden Club as well as Master Gardeners will also be on hand to answer questions and work with volunteers.
Volunteers do not need to register. For more information, contact Horticulturalist Steve Nosal at 402-441-8267 or email@example.com. More information on Parks and Recreation is available at parks.lincoln.ne.gov.
