Public Urged to Apply for Clean-Up Assistance

Mayor Chris Beutler today encouraged property owners and renters affected by recent flooding to apply for clean-up cost reimbursement through the City's Disaster Recovery Program. The fund is a $1 million program that will provide up to $5,000 per incident caused by the storms that occurred in May and in October of last year.

Program guidelines and an application are available on the City website at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: disaster recovery). Applications must be mailed or delivered in person to the City Attorney's Office, County-City Building, 555 S. 10th St. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 15. The City will consider an extension of the application deadline, if needed.

Letters were mailed Monday to all people who have filed a claim, informing them of how to apply for assistance. In addition, everyone who has called the City Wastewater Department to schedule an inspection will also receive a letter explaining the program.

The funds may be used to reimburse homeowners for specified remediation costs. It is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
