Pioneers Golf Course will be closed for at least five days, beginning Monday, November 30 for the removal and replacement of the main entrance drive. The work is expected to be completed Friday, December 4, but it may extend into the following week depending on weather conditions.
The work on the entrance drive is the final step of the parking lot construction that began at the course in October.
The Parks and Recreation Department is partnering on the repaving project with the Watershed Management Division of the Public Works and Utilities Department. The Division is providing matching funding for the use of "green" parking lot elements that provide filtration and infiltration of storm water runoff to improve water quality. Instead of using concrete or asphalt, the City is using permeable pavers, which also are durable and require little maintenance.
The City's three other 18-hole golf courses will open be open as usual during this period.
