The public is invited to join Lincoln City Libraries in celebrating "Take Your Child to the Library Day" on Saturday, February 6. Each child who visits any Lincoln City Library or Lied Bookmobile that day will receive a roll of candy and an "I Visited My Library" sticker. Children also can enter a drawing for a chance to win a reusable "I Love My Library" bag. One bag will be awarded at each library branch and Bookmobile, and winners will be announced the following week.
"Take Your Child to the Library Day" was the idea of Nadine Lipman, a children's librarian in Waterford, Connecticut, who selected the first Saturday in February as the annual day of celebration.
The day is dedicated to recognizing all the great resources libraries offer children, to raise community awareness about the importance of the library in the life of a child and to promote library services for families.
