Public Invited to Upcoming Nature Center Events
The public is invited to participate in two upcoming events at the Pioneers Park Nature Center, 3201 S. Coddington Avenue:
- All bird watchers - from experts to children on their first birding experience - are invited to join Dave Titterington from the Wild Bird Habitat Store for the Great Backyard Bird Count Saturday, February 13. The event is from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Chet Ager Building. Birds counted during the walk will be recorded and submitted to help researchers at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society learn more about how birds are doing and how to protect them and their habitat. Admission is free, but a $5 donation is suggested.
- Light from the near full moon Friday, February 19 will help guide the hikers through the Nature Center's woodlands and wetlands during a Moonlight Night Hike. The event is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and will begin at the Nature Center's Prairie Building. Following the hike, participants are encouraged to share stories while enjoying hot chocolate. Registration is open until February 17, and the cost is $8 per person.
Contact the Pioneers Park Nature Center at 402-441-7895 for more information and to register. More information is also available at parks.lincoln.ne.gov/nature center.
