Mayor Chris Beutler today announced that Troy Hughes, Fire Chief for Los Alamos County, New Mexico, has withdrawn his name from consideration for the position of Lincoln's new Fire Chief. Hughes has been offered a scholarship in the Center for Homeland Defense and Security Master's Program, which requires him to remain in his current position.
The public is invited to meet the three remaining finalists for the position of Lincoln Fire Chief at a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. tonight at the Lincoln Firefighters Reception Hall, 241 Victory Lane.

Mayor Beutler will make the final decision with City Council approval.
Battalion Chief Tim Linke has served as Interim Fire Chief since the retirement of John Huff in June 2015. Linke did not apply for the permanent position.
