Mayor Chris Beutler today said yesterday's passage of the stormwater bond issue will help to protect homes and businesses across Lincoln. Voters approved the $6.3 million bond issue by a margin of 69 percent to 31.
"I want to thank Lincoln voters for their continued strong support of our stormwater improvement program," Mayor Beutler said. "As this week's rains again demonstrated, we must continue to invest in this important infrastructure. Lincoln residents have shown us again that they understand this critical need. The important projects to be completed over the next two to three years will keep protect many properties from stormwater runoff and flood damage."
The list of projects to be completed is available at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: stormwater). With the bond issue's passage, the owner of a $150,000 home will pay about $4 more a year.
Lincoln voters have approved all ten storm drainage bond issues on the ballot since 1990.
