The Hyde Memorial Observatory will be closed Saturday, July 2. The observatory on the south side of Holmes Lake is regularly open Saturdays from sundown to 11 p.m. April through October and from 7 to 10 p.m. November through March.
The observatory is operated by City Parks and Recreation Department and staffed by volunteer members of the Prairie Astronomy Club. It features an observation deck with a retractable roof that houses the four main telescopes. Admission is free and program topics, such as astronomy and space exploration, change monthly.
