City Attorney Jeff Kirkpatrick has named Jessica Kerkhofs as the Chief Prosecutor, a position she has filled on an interim basis since December 2015. She replaces John McQuinn II, who has retired. The Chief City Prosecutor is responsible for supervising the attorneys and staff of the prosecution division and handling all related administrative matters. Kerkhofs will continue to participate in the litigation responsibilities of the office as well.
Kerkhofs is a 2001 graduate of the Creighton University School of Law. While in law school she clerked in the felony division of the Douglas County Attorney's Office. After graduating, Kerkhofs served as a staff attorney in Legal Aid of Nebraska's Omaha office handling child abuse and neglect cases in juvenile court. She has been a prosecutor with the City Attorney's Office in Lincoln since July of 2003.
