Nature Center Has Openings for Spring Semester Preschool

The Pioneers Park Nature Center is now registering children for its spring semester preschool classes, which begin January 9, 2017. Morning and afternoon sessions are available for children ages three through five. Open sessions include Tuesday and Thursday preschool for children age three and four and Monday, Wednesday and Friday pre-kindergarten sessions for children age four and five.

Preschool Director Sueann Ahrens said the nature-focused activities include hiking, climbing, digging, building and exploring the outdoors, regardless of the weather. "We count with sticks, make patterns with leaves, and dig in the sand, soil and snow," she said.

Preschool registration for the 2017-2018 school year begins February 1, 2017. Parents are invited to attend an open house Thursday, January 19, 2017 to learn about the Nature Center's preschool and pre-kindergarten programs. The event is from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Prairie Building Auditorium at 3201 S. Coddington Avenue. In case of inclement weather, the open house will be rescheduled for Thursday, January 26, 2017.
