The public is invited to an open house Monday, January 9, 2017 on improvements to 16th Street between "A" and "F" streets. The meeting is from 6 to 8 p.m. in the media center at McPhee Elementary School, 820 Goodhue Blvd. Parking is available in the lot on the south side of the building, and the main entrance is on the west side. No formal presentations are planned.
The project includes street repaving, reconstruction of sidewalk ramps and replacement of the traffic signal at the intersection of 16th and "D" streets with a flashing beacon. The project is scheduled to begin in March and end by August. To coincide with this construction, water mains will be replaced in the 16th Street project area and on "D" Street between 12th and 20th streets. The water main work is scheduled to start in February and end by August.
During construction, 16th Street between "A" and "F" streets will be closed, with restricted access to alleys and driveways. Southbound traffic on 16th Street will be detoured east on "G" Street to 17th Street, which will be temporarily re-marked to accommodate two-way traffic, and then south to "A" Street. Access for emergency vehicles and to residential areas will be maintained at all times.
At the open house, City representatives and project consultants will be available to discuss the public's questions and concerns about the project.
