The Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to participate in a cleanup Saturday, February 25 at Union Plaza. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Jane Snyder Trail Center, 21st and "Q" streets, and are expected to be finished by noon. Registration is not required, but volunteers may register in advance by sending an email to ParksVolunteers@lincoln.ne.gov or via the online volunteer system at parks.lincoln.ne.gov/volunteer. If weather postpones the event, all those registered will be notified of the rain date.
Parks and Recreation will provide tools and materials for the cleanup, which will focus on cutting back ornamental grasses. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and wear sturdy shoes.
The Union Plaza cleanup is part of the 2017 V.I.P. (Volunteer in Parks) Saturday series. New volunteers are asked to fill out the volunteer application form at parks.lincoln.ne.gov/volunteer (select "register online to volunteer") and register for the February VIP event.
