Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR) will continue a long tradition Wednesday, July 12 when the department welcomes the new Truck 7 in a brief ceremony. The public is invited to Fire Station 7, 1345 S. Cotner Blvd., at 12:30 p.m. as the obsolete vehicle is driven out of the fire station and the new one is moved in. The event includes public tours of the station and firefighting apparatus.
"New Truck 7 is a tremendous step forward in improving our fleet so our firefighters can meet the service expectations of the community," said Fire Chief Micheal Despain. "It will also be a rolling symbol to our future firefighters and paramedics that LFR is a great place to work."
New Truck 7 has been at the LFR maintenance shop being prepared for service since mid-June. The new vehicle is first of five new apparatus to be placed in service this year.
