Residents Urged to Use More Caution in Construction Zones

Following two worker injuries in road construction zones this week, the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) and Public Works and Utilities Department remind drivers to use extra caution in construction areas. LPD reports that Gromyko Roby, 34, and Eric Walkenhorst, 39, were both seriously injured in separate incidents after being struck by vehicles while they were working in clearly marked road construction zones.

Public Works and LPD offer its condolences and support to the families of those injured. As first responders and members of the construction industry, we understand the risk your loved ones take every day in their work and the lasting impact injuries can have on families.

Construction companies, local agencies and workers are committed to zero incidents and require adherence to necessary safety measures, policies and attire.
