Nature Center Prairie Run is November 4

Event proceeds benefit tallgrass prairie management

The Pioneers Park Nature Center invites runners of all ages to participate in the annual Prairie Run Saturday, November 4. The run starts at 9 a.m. at the Nature Center, 3201 S. Coddington Ave. Two fun routes, a one-mile and 5K, feature hills and challenging terrain. Registration is required by November 3, and participants can sign up at getmeregistered.com (search: Prairie Run).

The fee is $10 for ages 12 and under and $20 for ages 13 and over. All proceeds will support Nature Center land management and prairie restoration projects. All participants will receive a pair of bison-themed socks and be entered into a drawing for prizes from local businesses and organizations.

Sponsors include the Lincoln Running Company, Scheels, Threads - Footloose and Fancy, Ivanna Cone, Lincoln Children's Museum, UNL State Museum, Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center, The Groundwater Foundation, Fleet Feet Sports-Lincoln and K&D's Bees. Local Wal-Mart stores are also sponsoring the post-race refreshments of water and fruit.
