Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 16, the north leg of the South Coddington Avenue and West Van Dorn Street intersection will close for paving and utility improvements. Work will follow on the west and east legs, and will be phased so that three legs of the intersection remain open during the project. Access to adjacent businesses and homes will be maintained. The project is expected to be completed in July.
The project began in 2017 and is designed to reduce vehicle crashes by converting a two-way, stop-controlled intersection into a single-lane roundabout. Other improvements include repairing and rebuilding adjacent sidewalks, trails and box culvert extensions and installing a new storm drainage system and street lights.
Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution around construction crews and use alternate routes. Detour routes are posted on the project website. The Public Works and Utilities Department appreciates the public's patience during construction.
