Beginning Wednesday, May 16, Saunders Avenue between 12th and 14th streets will be closed through September for improvements. Emergency, residential and business access will be maintained during the project.
The road will be replaced with a 35-foot-wide concrete street. Improvements include curbs, gutters and an underground storm water drainage system to protect the street from weather damage and improve safety during storms. Existing driveways with culvert pipes will be replaced with driveways that are graded to facilitate water runoff.
The Saunders Avenue Pavement District, comprised of property owners on Saunders Avenue, has requested that the City of Lincoln manage the project. The Public Works and Utilities Department appreciates the public's patience during the project. Please exercise caution around construction crews.
