Lincoln Play Day is August 8

The public is invited to the free Lincoln Play Day from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 8 at Woods Park, 33rd and "J" streets. Lincoln Parks and Recreation and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) are sponsoring the fun family event as part of the Play in the Parks program.

The event will include family-friendly games and activities, including bubbles, snookball, chalk painting, bocce ball, disk golf, a short bike tour, volleyball, kickball and a water balloon piƱata. The Woods Pool spray park will be open from 6 to 7 p.m., and a hotdog meal will be available for purchase from the Woods Pool concessions stand for $1 starting at 5:30 p.m.

Participants should dress for physical activity. Youth are required to wear a swimsuit to play in the spray park. Residents are encouraged to walk, run and ride to this wellness event. Bike racks are available by the playground and pool, and a bike corral will be available by the basketball court. Parking is available at the following locations:

The Party in the Parks and Play in the Parks programs were created to encourage the community to use parks, trails and open spaces to improve individual and community health.
