Free Yoga at Antelope Park Begins September 2

The Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to free Lincoln Parks and Yoga (PLAY) events on Sunday mornings in September. The sessions are from 10 to 11 a.m.at the John Shildneck Bandshell in Antelope Park, 1600 Memorial Drive. Participants are asked to bring their own towel or yoga mat.

Instructors rotate each Sunday to show attendees various styles of yoga and teachings. Programming will not be rescheduled due to inclement weather. The dates and instructors are as follows:

"Yoga means union. Practicing yoga, with as much of our community as possible, is our goal. When we can bring together different teachers, from different studios around Lincoln, we can be more inclusive to our community," said Susy Martin, PLAY Coordinator. "They say 'you protect what you love.' When we connect with our community, we are more likely to support it. When we connect with our bodies, through practicing yoga asana, we are more likely to take care of them. When we spend time in nature, we are more likely to protect it," Martin said.

The PLAY program is designed for all levels of yogis and has been held for seven years with support from partners like the Community Health Endowment. Updates for the event will be posted on the PLAY Facebook events pages.
