Prairie Corridor on Haines Branch
The Salt Valley Greenway is a ribbon of open space and greenway links within the Salt Valley drainage basin in Lincoln and Lancaster County. One of the key links is the Prairie Corridor on Haines Branch, linking Pioneers Park and Spring Creek Prairie, important resources for tallgrass prairie and environmental education. The Prairie Corridor on Haines Branch will connect and build upon these valuable community assets with a trail to promote ecotourism and education, and through prairie conservation and restoration to highlight one of southeast Nebraska's most valuable resources--tallgrass prairie. In Summer of 2012, a master plan was completed for the Salt Valley Greenway and Prairie Corridor to provide guidance for a public-private partnership to use in implementing the Prairie Corridor. The partnership is currently working to develop and refine the information for the Prairie Corridor and to seek grant funds for implementation.
