Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
Purpose:To provide advice and recommendations to the Mayor, the City Council and Parks and Recreation Department on long-range program development.
Student Members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory BoardLincoln Parks and Recreation is seeking applications from students who are currently enrolled as a high school Junior or Senior during the 2016-17 school year, for two positions on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. This 16-member volunteer board advises the Parks and Recreation Department, the Mayor and the City Council on matters relating to parks and recreation facilities and programs. The two student members serve one-year terms, and students may serve more than one term if they have an interest. Service on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board can be used to satisfy community involvement hours. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets at 4 pm on the second Thursday of each month. Student members also have the opportunity to participate in one of the working committees of the Board, if they would like.
Students attending any public high school, private high school, or home schooling are eligible to apply for a position on the Advisory Board. Students must be residents of the City of Lincoln.
