Parks and Recreation Fall Program Guide Released
August 25, 2017
The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department has released its fall/winter program guide. The guide will be included in the Sunday, August 27 edition of the Lincoln Journal Star, and a downloadable version is available.

Children's Zoo and Rose Garden Parking Relocated Today
August 22, 2017
Beginning Aug 22, parking for the Lincoln Children's Zoo and Hamann Rose Garden, 1222 S. 27th St. will be relocated due to work on the Zoo expansion project. Zoo parking will be in the new lot accessed from "A" Street at about 28th Street and the overflow lot across "A" Street next to the Rock Island Trail. Parking for the gardens will be in the Sunken Gardens lot at 26th and "D" Streets, and on the streets in the area. The new 27th Street entrance is anticipated to open on October 6.

Star City Shores Open Through Sunday. Season ends with annual Dog Splash!

While most of Lincoln's public swimming pools closed Sunday, August 13, Star City Shores will remain open through Sunday, August 20. Hours are 3:30 to 7 p.m. today through Friday, August 18 and 12:30 to 6 p.m. August 19 and 20.

The annual Dog Splash at Star City Shores will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. August 20. Tickets are $10 per dog and will go on sale at 6 p.m. at the front gates. Each dog may be accompanied by up to two adults and one child at least 8 years of age. Dog Splash includes an area for small dogs (measuring 15 inches or less from the shoulder) and retrieval activities in the lap lanes. When the dogs are not in the water, they must be on a leash. Plastic bags will be provided for cleanup. Dog Splash is sponsored by the Lincoln Parks Foundation and the Greater Lincoln Obedience Club. Public Invited to Volunteer Saturday at Antelope Park
August 15, 2017
The Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to help stain benches at the Antelope Park Bandshell, 1650 Memorial Drive, from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19. Supplies will be provided. Attendees should dress appropriately for the weather and messy stain work.

Registration is not required, but volunteers may register in advance by sending an email to ParksVolunteers@lincoln.ne.gov or visiting parks.lincoln.ne.gov/volunteer. New volunteers are asked to complete the volunteer application form at this site. If weather causes a postponement, registered participants will be notified of the rain date.

Healthy Living Workshops Begin August 21 at "F" Street Recreation Center
August 10, 2017
Aging Partners invites senior citizens and the public to participate in a series of healthy living workshops August 21 through October 2. The workshops are part of the "Living Well-Take Control of Your Health" program. They will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. every Monday (except September 4) at the "F" Street Recreation Center, 1225 "F" St. Registration is required by calling Aging Partners at 402-441-7575. The registration deadline is noon on the Friday preceding the Monday workshop.

Residents Urged to Report Coyote Sightings

Here are some helpful tips from Lincoln Animal Control on what to do around coyotes. If you witness a coyote with aggressive behavior inside Lincoln city limits, please contact Lincoln Animal Control at 402-441-7900.
