Update on Community Forestry Reorganization

During the past several weeks and during the City Council budget hearing on August 9 community residents expressed their desire to have a professional forester position with the Community Forestry program.  On Wednesday, August 11 the City Council voted to place funds in the Community Forestry section operating budget for fiscal year 2010-11 for a professional forester position.  Parks and Recreation Department staff will be working the Community Forestry Advisory Board, community residents, and the Nebraska Forest Service to develop a job classification for a new professional forester position.
