Programs for Adults

Ceramics
Learn the basics of cleaning greenware, glazing, staining, lustering, dry brushing, and decals. Fee includes firing. Participants must bring their own greenware and supplies. Call 441-7901 to register. *Additional charges for may apply for pieces/firing.
Location: Calvert Recreation Center, 4500 Stockwell St.
Day: Wednesdays Time: 2 pm-4 pm
Fee: $3.50/week

Adaptive Recreation Programs
For Youth and Adults With Special Needs

Developmental Play Group - Ages 6m - 5 years
Playtime that is specifically designed for families of very young children with special needs. We offer a safe family friendly environment, structured activities, opportunities to interact with other parents, professional presentations, adaptive toys to accommodate children of all abilities, trained staff and volunteers, an opportunity for siblings to play together, and a special time to play with your child. Adult Day Structure Programs
Our Day Structure programs are held in a supportive, caring environment, with trained and experienced staff. We have kind and caring volunteers and community specialists who lead groups and special programs. Clients are encouraged to set personal goals and participate in a broad spectrum of programs. A few of our program offerings include: Exercise & Physical Activities, Arts & Crafts, Gardening, Theatre/Drama, Nutrition & Cooking, Leisure Education, Life Skills, Special Events/Holiday Parties, Community Outings, and much, much more! Hi-Time Club: Jr High - High School, through age 21 Keyword: Hi-Time

Friendship Club: Ages 21-35 Keyword: Friendship Club

Adaptive Recreation Co-ed Bowling League: Ages 17+ Keyword: Bowling
Teams bowl three games each week following regulation league rules and handicaps. Trophies will be awarded. Pre-registration required. Call (402) 441-7901 for more information.

Adaptive Recreation Holiday Ceramics: Ages 17+ Keyword: Ceramics
This is a program for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Come learn how to paint ceramic pieces, learn about greenware and different painting techniques!
Register at Easterday Recreation Center, but the class is held at Calvert recreation Center 3 Saturday mornings a month!

Adaptive Art Class!: Holiday Canvas Painting Ages 12+
Participants will paint a seasonal painting through step-by-step guidance from the artist instructor. This class is designed for individuals 12 years of age and older with special needs.

Fee: $35.00 - Includes the cost of project supplies.

Adaptive Lego Club
Introductory class for youth and young adults. Call (402) 441-7877 for information. Dates/times are to be announced.

Adaptive Recreation Camps
The 2016 Summer Camp Registration Forms will be available March 2017, and will be mailed to campers who have participated in the past and to youth who participate in our recreation clubs and Special Olympics team. Call Sherry Connett at (402) 441-7948 to ensure you are on our mailing list.
