Dog Runs

Lincoln currently has two public dog runs - Rickman's Run east of S. 70th St. near Holmes Park and the Oak Creek Dog Run south of Cornhusker Highway and east of North 1st St. The draft master plan proposes expanded parking and other improvements to Rickman's Run; relocation of the Oak Creek Dog Run to another northwest Lincoln park; and development of new dog facilities in northeast Lincoln, southwest Lincoln and downtown. The Parks and Recreation Department has used public input to develop the plan, which will guide future improvements and development of dog facilities.

The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department presented the draft of the dog facilities master plan during the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Thursday, November 12, 2015. The draft master plan calls for one dog facility in each quadrant of the community in addition to one downtown. Download the Dog Use Facilities Master Plan – Draft Report (6.1MB). The final report will be presented and voted upon by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Thursday, February 11, 2016.
