Roberts Park Master Plan
The Master Plan for Roberts Park is based on an ecological design framework attributed to sustaining and enhancing ecosystem services. These services are benefits provided by functioning natural systems, such as grasslands, toward human well-being. They influence the quality of air we breathe, water we drink, and energy we consume. They help regulate climate, temperature and disease, and provide for a wide range of recreational and spiritual experiences. By incorporating this knowledge back into the design of the built environment, such as parkland, we can begin to maximize the potential return from those services. As part of the planning and design process, changes in biodiversity, soil formation, social content, air quality and water quality were all considered as factors in determining the various ecological restorations for the park.
