Chief Tom Casady


Tom Casady served Lincoln as Chief of Police from January 1994 through May 2011. On June 1, 2011, he was appointed Public Safety Director by Mayor Beutler with responsiblity for Lincoln Police Department, 911 Emergency Communications and Lincoln Fire and Rescue.

Prior to his appointment as Chief of Police, Tom Casady served as the Sheriff of Lancaster County. He began his law enforcement career as a Lincoln police officer in 1974. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and a Master of Arts degree in political science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Casady is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Association of Crime Analysts and the Police Executive Research Forum.
