City of Lincoln
2005 News Releases
Each December many of the citizens of Lincoln and the state of Nebraska gather together to celebrate the holiday season. Many of these celebrations involve the serving of alcoholic beverages. An unfortunate and tragic byproduct of these celebrations is the potential of great harm or death caused by alcohol and drug impaired drivers on our roadways.
With the assistance of an overtime grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety to add additional staff, Officers of the Lincoln Police Department will begin its annual holiday effort to remove these drug and alcohol impaired drivers from our roadways. This project will run through the entire month of December.
This visible enforcement effort by officers throughout the month of December will hopefully remind all motorists that driving while under the influence is illegal, and it can be deadly. Citizens are reminded to drive safe, drive sober, and buckle up for safety. The safety of Lincoln citizens is the departments top priority.
