The Lincoln Police Department would like to thank everyone who has donated to the police departments Canine Unit. In February the police department lost Zito, the canine partner of Officer Jeff Urkevich, when he was killed by a hit and run driver. Zito will need to be replaced and the department would also like to add one more canine to the force this year in anticipation of canine Kimbo, a nine year old German Shepard, who will be retiring. It costs over $8000.00 to purchase and train one police dog and for over twenty years the purchase of our canines has been funded by private donations. Without the generous support of the community this would not be possible. This fund raising campaign was lead by Mr. Robert D. Northrop, Mr. Dan Remigio, and Mr. John Evasco.
