City of Lincoln Police Department 2006 News Releases |
The Lincoln Police Department invites the public to attend the open house of the Northeast Team Station at 4843 Huntington on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. The new Northeast Team Station is one of many projects associated with the city’s University Place Redevelopment Plan and was made possible through the partnership of the City of Lincoln and WRK LLC. This is the second stand alone team station of the police department. The first, the Center Team Station opened on February 14th, 2000. Since that time the city has grown in population by 25,000. The Northeast Team area encompasses 15.23 square miles and contains a population of 44,678. Forty-two police employees will work out of the facility and will respond to calls in the Northeast Team area. Officers responded to 21,472 incidents in Northeast Lincoln in 2005. The building itself dates back to the early 1930’s when it was the home of Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph. Since that time there have been three major expansions of the original building. Great care was taken with the conversion to the team station to retain the characteristics of the original façade. There is 10,000 square feet of finished space inside that the employees will work out of. The department has benefited greatly from the original building quality which has enabled us to equip the station to be used as an emergency operations center if needed.
