In the latest twist involving scrap metal thefts in homes under construction, several water meters have been removed from these construction sites. The water meters and the brass valve assembly were installed in four homes under construction in the Southeast Team area when thieves entered the sites and removed them over this past weekend. These water meters are added at an early stage in the construction when the homes cannot be secured and as a result, no forced entry has been necessary to remove the meters. The dollar loss to these four homes was $640.00. The police department urges all builders to be aware of these thefts, secure construction sites and report any suspicious activity to the police.
