City of Lincoln
2007 News Releases
Officers from the Northeast Team area will be concentrating traffic enforcement efforts within the team area from November 1st to December 15th 2007. This effort, in conjunction with DWI enforcement, will be focused in Northeast Lincoln with an emphasis at high risk intersections where accidents involving drunk drivers are more likely to occur.
This traffic enforcement project, funded by a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, allows the team to conduct enforcement in throughout Northeast Lincoln.
One in every 23 licensed drivers in Nebraska will be involved in a motor vehicle collision each year. Last year in our Capitol City there were 8,522 accidents in which 2,576 people were injured. In the first half of 2007 accidents increased by 6.5% in the Northeast geographical team area. Officers will be trying to influence drivers to observe all traffic laws to help reduce the number of accidents and to remind citizens to drive safe, sober, and buckle up for safety.
