The Lincoln Police Department announces the loss of 32 years of experience with the retirement of Southwest Team Captain Bob Wilhelm.
Captain Bob Wilhelm leaves the department after 32 years of distinguished service. Bob Wilhelm was hired by the police department in July of 1975 as an officer. Bob was assigned as a jailer as the police department ran the jail at that time. Two years later Officer Wilhelm was assigned to the street and patrolled until he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1982. Wilhelm was promoted to Lieutenant in May of 1992 and achieved the rank of Captain in 1996. Throughout his career Bob was assigned to a variety of teams within the department as well as Internal Affairs. Captain Wilhelm was assigned to command the Southwest Team area in 1998. It is through his role as head of such a diverse team that has led Bob to serve on several boards including, the Friendship Home, Region V, and the Gathering Place. His years of experience and involvement in the community as a representative of the department will be sorely missed.
