LPD Honors Fallen Officers for Law Enforcement Memorial Week

The Lincoln Police Department will host a ceremony on the east steps of the Hall of Justice to observe Law Enforcement Memorial Week as part of a nationwide observance honoring fallen law enforcement officers. This is an opportunity to honor and pay tribute to officers who have given their lives while serving the citizens of Lincoln.

Tuesday, May 13th at 12:00 p.m.
Hall of Justice, 575 S. 10th Street, Lincoln Nebraska
The public is invited to attend.

The event will feature key note speaker Chief Assistant City Prosecutor John McQuinn II, a reading of the Proclamation by City Council Chairperson Dan Marvin, Lincoln Police Honor Guard and a solo vocalist. The ceremony will be followed with refreshments furnished by the Lincoln Police Union.

Lincoln Police Chief, Thomas Casady, will read the names of the following officers who have been killed in the Line of Duty:

Captain Charles E. Hall - March 31, 1917

Officer Richard E. Leyden - September 26, 1949

Detective Frank H. Soukup - December 16, 1966

Detective Paul B. Whitehead - August 10, 1967

Motorcycle Officer George E. Welter - February 9, 1968
