MAN IN CUSTODY FOR MORNING ROBBERY

At 7:45am, August 8, 2008, a 28 year old woman was seated in her vehicle Ė which was parked in the driveway of her residence along the 1200 block of S. 18th Street. Suddenly, a man approached her with a knife. He held the knife to her throat as he reached across her body and grabbed her pass from the passenger seat. He immediately fled west bound on B Street. Since her cellular phone was inside her purse, the victim drove to SunMart at 17th & South to contact police. She did sustain minor cuts to her neck during the incident.

Officers immediately converged to the area. An officer canvassing nearby neighborhoods saw a man, matching the suspectís description, enter an apartment building in the 600 block of S 20th Street. The officer then located the victimís cell phone where that man was last seen. A short time later, officers found Rodney Mann hiding inside a sofa at 612 S. 20th Street. The victimís purse and its contents have been recovered. Rodney was lodged in jail for Robbery and Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony.
