Investigation Begins in Death of Newborn
Lincoln Police are investigating the death of a five-week old newborn. At 7:20am, Lincoln Police were called to a home in the 2600 block of K Street. The baby was transported to Bryan LGH West, where he was pronounced deceased. At this time, the death appears to be a homicide. The autopsy is scheduled for later this afternoon. The cause of death will be released once the results of the autopsy are received.
The suspect, the baby's twenty-two year old father, is in custody. He has been lodged at the Lancaster County Jail for Felony Child Abuse Resulting in Death, a Class 1B Felony. Investigators are still conducting interviews and processing the scene. The names of the suspect and victim are not being released.
