Jason Stroemer Suffered an Accidental Death

At 9:13pm on September 28, 2009, Lincoln Police were sent to 244 E Street on a possible shooting. The 29 year old resident, Jason D. Stroemer, was found inside the home with a self-inflicted gun shot wound. That night, he had been drinking with a friend and his live-in girlfriend. At one point, he decided to retrieve his .22 caliber revolver. Believing it was unloaded; he placed the gun to his head and fired. After Jason pulled the trigger several times, the gun went off and he fell to the ground. Police and medical units were summoned to the scene where Jason Stroemer was pronounced deceased.

Evidence found at the scene and during the autopsy was consistent with this series of events. There is no indication that Jason Stroemer was suicidal. He merely failed to check the gun before firing. It was an accident that cost him his life.
