Details in Early Morning SWAT Incident

On July 21, 2009, at 2:34 am, the Lincoln Police Department was called to a residence on the 100 block of Blue Flame Road. The resident, 28 year old Mandy Trevizo, reported that she heard someone breaking into the home. Officers arrived and found her estranged husband, 22 year old Eric Trevizo, inside the residence with a handgun. He had driven from his parent's home in Colorado in an attempt to reconcile the relationship with his wife. He made no threats to Mandy or to officers at the scene.

Upon arrival, officers secured a perimeter around the location and were able to carry two children safely out of the home. Neighboring residences were also evacuated for safety. Lincoln Police Department's SWAT Team was summoned to the scene and spoke with Eric as he barricaded himself in a bedroom. Officers negotiated Mandy's released from the bedroom a short time later. As the officers continued to speak with Eric, he fired one round from his handgun. He suffered a critical wound to his head from the self-inflicted injury. He was immediately transported to Bryan LGH West. Eric Trevizo was pronounced dead at 6:41am. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning, July 22, 2009.

Eric did not have a criminal history with Lincoln Police Department; therefore, we do not have a mugshot image on file.
