Local Law Enforcement Searching for Escapee Shane Tilley
The Lincoln Police Department and Lancaster Sheriff’s Office are currently assisting Nebraska State Patrol with searching for an escapee from the Lincoln Regional Center, 801 West Prospector Place. Just before 10am this morning, Shane Tilley left the grounds with therapists chasing after him. Shane was last seen running eastbound from the area. At the time, he was wearing a blue shirt and blue pants. Lincoln Regional Center employees advise that Shane’s hair is shorter and lighter than his last book-in image. He has also grown a goatee.
Shane Tilley was arrested January 5, 2006 for the murder of Andrew Lubben. Andrew suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest outside Shane’s apartment in Northeast Lincoln. Shane was later found not guilty by reason of insanity and placed at the Regional Center.
If Shane Tilley is seen, call 911 immediately. His current level of dangerousness is not known. Given his history of violence, do not approach him. Please, have law enforcement make contact.
UPDATE: Shane Tilley was located at 5:40 p.m. on July 21, 2010 near S. 6th and Van Dorn. KMTV News Reporter Molli Graham spotted him and called 911. Officer D. Winkler was able to take Shane Tilley into custody after a short struggle. Shane was later turned over to the Nebraska State Patrol.
