Skeletal Remains Identified as Gary Roth
On 3-23-2010, at 1:30pm, a group cleaning the area of SW 2nd & West South Streets discovered human skeletal remains. The remains were located underneath the east side of the bridge that crosses over Salt Creek. Once the evidence was collected, Lincoln Police Department investigators met with a forensic odontologist. Teeth found in the remains were compared against known dental records. The forensic odontologist was able to identify the deceased as 57 year old Gary Roth. Gary was a Lincoln resident that lived a transient lifestyle. He was last contacted by Lincoln Police Department on April 12, 2009 reference a non-criminal matter.
Lincoln Police continue to investigate this as an unnatural death. Damage to the bones indicates that there was trauma associated with the death. Forensic archaeologists and forensic entomologists are assisting LPD to determine the exact cause and time frame of Gary Roth's death. Those details remain unknown.
