Lincoln Police Participate in Polar Plunge 2010
Members of the Lincoln Police Department are participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge 2010. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Holmes Lake Park, S. 64th Street and Normal Boulevard. This bone-chilling event invites participants, also known as plungers, to collect pledges from friends and family as encouragement for jumping into icy waters in the middle of winter. All proceeds will benefit individuals with intellectual disabilities through Special Olympics Nebraska.
The plunge starts at 11 a.m. The first year the fundraising event came to Lincoln, 50 people plunged, helping raise $3,000. Last year, the participants were able to raise over $35,000.00 for the charity. Even if you do not want to take part by plunging into the chilly water, join us by cheering on the participants.
