The hours of special enforcement will be from 10 p.m. - 3 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights. Officers will conduct patrol throughout the city, focusing on high volume traffic areas.
Last year, the Lincoln Police Department investigated 6,783 accidents, 248 of which were alcohol related. Ten of those accidents were fatal. Officers also arrested 1,875 drivers in 2011 for Driving Under the Influence, with 66% of the arrests occurring between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.
