Click It or Ticket Seatbelt Use Enforcement Project

The Lincoln (NE) Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Unit will join in a statewide "Click It or Ticket" enforcement effort from Monday, November 25, 2013, through Sunday, December 1, 2013. Officers are conducting enforcement throughout the city, concentrating on areas with high injury accident rates. They will be placing special emphasis on those drivers who are not wearing a seatbelt. Officers will also be watching closely for child restraint violations.

The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety is providing overtime funding to assist with this enforcement effort. Fifty percent of the overtime activity will be conducted during the 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. time period in an effort to address evening seatbelt usage. The statewide goal is to increase the seatbelt usage rate in Nebraska to 86.2%.

The single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and passengers in your vehicle is to buckle up each and every trip. If your vehicle is equipped with airbags, the use of the seatbelt is even more critical. These safety devices work in concert with each other and offer you the best protection in the event of a collision.

Reduce your risk with a simple click. Buckle up.
