"You Drink & Drive. You Lose." Campaign Results

The Lincoln Police Department had a very productive month with our involvement in the "You Drink You Drive. You Lose." campaign sponsored by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety. The Lincoln Police Department made a total of 195 DWI arrests from December 1, 2012 through January 1, 2013. A Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrest was made every day during the month of December. During the same time frame, the Lincoln Police Department also wrote 3,395 citations for various other traffic violations.

Of the 195 DWI arrests,

98 arrests were DWI-Aggravated (drivers with a BAC over .15)
9 arrests were for felony DWI violations
4 arrests were for .02 violations
8 arrests were for refusing a chemical test
2 arrests were DRE (drug recognition) offenses

With the assistance of an overtime grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, on-duty officers were supplemented with additional officers during peak enforcement times. Those officers were able to achieve the following:

380 Traffic citations and warnings
29 DWI arrests
10 Aggravated DWI offenses
