Homicide Investigation in North Lincoln

On March 28, 2014, 12:06 a.m., members of the Lincoln (NE) Police Department and Lincoln Fire & Rescue were dispatched to 1919 N. 29th Street reference a shooting. A thirty-eight year old Lincoln man, Nathaniel Morton, Sr., was found, at the home, unresponsive. He was transported to a local hospital with a single gunshot wound to the chest. At 12:38 a.m., Nathaniel Morton was pronounced deceased. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Through multiple interviews, police believe that an argument erupted during a gathering at the residence. During the incident, a man produced a handgun and shot Nathaniel Morton, Sr. The suspect fled the scene and has not been located.

Lincoln police are still in the early stages of the investigation. Officers continue to conduct interviews and follow-up on leads. This is the second homicide reported in Lincoln in 2014.
