"You Drink & Drive. You Lose." Campaign Results
The Lincoln (NE) Police Department saw a decrease in Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrests during their involvement in the "You Drink & Drive. You Lose." enforcement campaign. From November 30, 2013, through January 1, 2014, officers conducted high visibility traffic enforcement and took a zero tolerance approach to drivers under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. During that time, the Lincoln Police Department made 134 DWI arrests. Funding for this project was provided by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS).
Of the 134 DWI arrests,
59 arrests were DWI-Aggravated (drivers with a BAC over .15) 8 arrests were for felony DWI violations 6 arrests were for .02 violations 14 arrests were for refusing a chemical test 3 arrests were DRE (drug recognition) offenses
