Names of Officers Released in Shooting
Following our standard procedures, the Lincoln Police Department is conducting an independent administrative investigation into the officer-involved shooting of 22-year-old Germichael Kennedy. After the incident on June 26, 2016, the two Lincoln police officers who discharged their duty weapons were placed on paid administrative leave.
Those officers, Sergeant Mario Robinson, who has served the Lincoln Police Department for 22 years, and Officer Josh Atkinson, who has served the Lincoln Police Department for eight years, remain on administrative leave. Both continue to participate in the internal administrative investigation and in the investigation of Germichael Kennedy's death, conducted by the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
