Public Invited to Open House on Water Quality Improvements in Tierra Park

January 21, 2009

The public is invited to an open house on a water quality improvement project in Tierra Park, Tuesday, January 27, 2009. The meeting is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hill Elementary School, 5230 Tipperary Trail. Tierra Park is one-half mile south of 27th Street and Highway 2, just east of the Southwood residential district.

The project will address water quality issues and includes the removal of the failing concrete liner. The current channel will be realigned to flow through the park, adding new water quality features and improving the quality of water entering Beal Slough. Preliminary design work has begun for the project, and construction is expected to begin this summer. The project is funded through the 2007 stormwater bond issue.

Representatives from the City of Lincoln and project consultants from Olsson Associates will attend the open house to answer questions and discuss concerns. For more information, contact Travis Figard, Olsson Associates, at 458-5917 or Holly Lionberger, City Public Works and Utilities Department, at 441-8400.
